Another (rainy) week has finally come to a close and thankfully the sunshine appeared yesterday and reminded me that there is still plenty to be happy about! Here are ten things that made me smile this week... even though I was sopping wet for most of it!

how lucky we are to live so close to such a charming green space. meridian park is the perfect spot to lay out a cozy blanket in the sunshine and get your read on. D and I lounged at the park until late into the night. the bright sky tricked us into thinking it was still early but at 9:30 danny woke me up (of course I fell asleep) and laughed at me as I wobbled home. solstice is just a week away... and I'm thinking this week my evenings will probably be spent on a blanket at the park.

3 ripe peaches, pitted & sliced
honey or agave or stevia
1 lemon, juiced

if you've never been, you've got to check out this little capitol hill boutique. anna banana (store owner & entertainer) is an absolute riot. she is so authentically over the top, by the end of the show my tummy hurt from laughing. the event was an absolute delight (thanks josie!) and i will, without a doubt, be at the next one!

midway through my Marion Cotillard movie marathon, I stumbled upon this oddball romantic comedy. if you liked Amelie, you might also love the cinematography in this French flick as well. but prepare yourself, because it is a whole other beast.
if you keep an open mind, there is so much to love & be weirded out about this tragic, quirky modern day Romeo & Juliet (besides ms. marion of course). the intensity of the color, the bittersweet funeral scene (someone better do that at mine), fierce pillow fighting, kissing on top of cars... if you think you've been in a tumultuous relationship, it's nothing compared to Sophie & Julian's dark and twisted romance. trust me, you will never think of truth or dare the same again.

bess and I spent our sunny saturday morning knee deep in blackberry bushes along the cedar river. we were volunteering with Friends of the Cedar River Watershed, busting our butts to help rid the area of this invasive species and restore the habitat of our local friend: the trout. it felt so awesome to do physical work. living in the city and working behind a computer (for the most part), I rarely get the opportunity to get my hands dirty and break a sweat while i work. i found that my body had really been craving this!

one of my best buddies amanada rose showed up for her seattle visit with this little beauty in hand. doctor by day, needlepoint artist by night! we LOVE it and are currently trying it out on various walls in our house 'til we find the perfect spot. if you love it & want one too, let me know! she is beginning the process of selling her work!
